Are my lights too close?

I have been running 4 VHO 110W actinics with 2 175W MH in a canopy for about 1 month now. The halides were retrofit to the canopy and are in between the VHO, about 1.5 inches from the VHO bulbs. Is this too close? I haven't had any problems thus far. Has anyone ever had a VHO explode from getting too hot? There are two fans on the canopy.

never heard of it but that does sound affully close i would be concerned can you move them?

I was at my LFS today and was observing a VHO/MH hood combo from hamilton tech. The halides and the VHO's were no further away than mine. This makes me feel a little safer. I can move them....probably another inch away.

an inch is an inch better safe than sorry, the fans will help if there powerfull enough.
