It's time to replace my pc bulbs. I currently run CSL smartlamps, but would like to improve the quality of lighting if possible (aside from MH). I have to replace three CSL smarlamps. My tank is 37 gal, with mixed inverts and corals: clams, softies, rose bta, montis... Everything is doing very well, but if I can improve, why not. I am a bit confused though, are CSL's ultra-actinic the same as Hellolights actinic-03? If not which is better? What is "03" describing? Once I establish which actinic is better what should my combination be? Should I use 2-10k's and 1-ultra-actinic/actinic 03, and if so is that enough actinic? Stay with 3 smartlamps? Any input is appreciated.

Hi,

the smartlamps are nice. I have used them in the past. Do you have seperate ballasts for the bulbs?

The O3 actinic and the CSL ultra are similar. The Hello-lights model seems to be made by coralife and is very violet. much like the NO bulbs...

You could always put two 10k Bulbs and one actinic or run all three spectrums... 6700k, 10k and an actinic... your choice. I was gonna get my hands on a 35g hex. And use a csl power prizm.. Halide PC comdo.. u might want to do the same....

you can probably get a similar item from Aquaticco.com - they support reefs.org and have good customer service.....

I replaced my 50/50 65 watt with an 8800k and really like it on my 29gal. Nice bright white color. Just a tinge of blue. Colors on the coraline is very good. Fish are nice, but not glowing like they do under atinic. I like the 8800k a lot. :D

"03" doesn't mean jack squat it's a part number in the Phillips Lighting catalog that some idiot in a marketing department latched onto as something "special".
