Aside: hey Paul, where did you get that cool sarcophyton?

If you are talking about the gold crowned/long polyp toadstool I received it from IPSF about 18mths ago. They are starting to drop babies so I have started to thin them out. Looking for takers!

ps Paul, if that nest of acropora ever gets too much for you I will lighten the burden for you by putting that fine specimen in one of my tanks. Just an offer...

If you are talking about the purple robusta, frags are available soon! Just waiting for them to encrust a bit in my prop tank.

yeah paul that birdsnest is getting in the way of those mushrooms. get them outa there and give em to me so the mushrooms have room

Die mushrooms die! I am debating dipping the base of the coral into a warm kalk solution to rid the piece of the aggressors...

Nice GARF job on the above photo.

Poor GARF, getting bashed in a thread that has nothing to do with them. Actually on my monitor at work the colors look very true, but at home they appear too red and/or pink. Darren (www.palmettoreefs.com) took the pic and more are available there at his site. I will allow him to share his photgraphic tehniques if he chooses to....

Paul

keep me on the list when that stuff is ready.

I have been keeping FW tanks for almost 40yrs. I have been keeping SW tanks since 1973. In 1978 I began managing a pet store in Chattanooga, TN, and we had the largest selection of SW fish and critters in the SE, aside from Atlanta. So, I have been at this awhile.

I appreciate some of the comments and statements. I was truly offended by what seemed to me to be a callous treatment of marketable corals (meaning they had value to others, not just to me). I now understand the whole situation that Louey is in, and while I still value ALL LIFE, proper husbandry does make it necessary to destroy some animals in favor of others (such as Aiptasia).

I do understand your problem, Louey. I do wish that there was some way to save the corals, rather than destroy them. However, if there is no way to practically remove them so that you could give them to someone, they will have to be destroyed.

Speaking of which, have you considered the injection of these corals with Aiptasia killer? I have used Aiptasia killer on an Mojano anenome that moved into the midst of some green centered polyps that I've had for 2 years. The presence of the anenome was killing the polyps, and the rock they are on is fragile, meaning I couldn't go scraping and pulling at it with pliers or forceps. After a couple of injections, I killed the anenome.

I hope all of you understand me now, and don't think I'm some sort of nut-case. I am just a very concientious reefer, who values ALL LIFE. A couple of days ago I removed an LTA from my tank that had gotten too large. It was beginning to have an affect on other corals and anenomes, and even my fish had limited swim-room. I carefully removed the anenome, and took him back to the LFS. After two days, the LTA was dead. I cannot tell you how badly this made me feel. My LFS had the "it was just an anenome" attitude. That bothered me even worse.

I'll quit rambling now, and close this post. Maybe you could just consider me the "conscience of the board." I have a great passion for this hobby, and for all the critters in it.

Thanks for listening. :D

I'm glad you came back too Wrasseman (AKA shroom police) .

This thread caused me to change my concept of getting rid of the shrooms. Because of the comments of Brandon and Hal, I am going to try to remove the shrooms and throw them in my fuge and hope they attach to some rubble, and survive. Then I can take them in for a credit at the lfs. :D

I'll update this post with my success or failure so that everyone can learn!

Louey
