I saw some of these today at one of my favorite LFS's. I almost puchased one.they are really nice looking. The reason I did not follow through with my purchas was because the guy was havun so much trouble gettin it off the glass bottom of the tank. I was afraid he was going to hurt it. I was searching for information on the net but I want to here from you people. What experience have you had? I hear that these animals are easy to keep and live up to ten years in captive tanks. Help!

I have a flower anemone and it's a very hardy creature. Mine started out rather brownish, but is now a very nice green. I don't directly feed it as it grabs food when I feed the tank. They stay small, mine is in a 20g and will not outgrow it. They don't have the high light requirements like hosting anemones, I have mine under 55watts PC. It likes to be on the sandbed with it's foot wedged between some rocks. As with any anemone, they can sting their neighbors. They will not eat your fish, so that's good.... Let's see, I've had mine for over a year now, and according to Dr. Ron over at RC, they can be expected to live as long as hosting anemones (in other words around 100yrs or so). Considering everything, it is probably the best "first" anemone to have....hardy and not endangered!!

It's great that the anemone had a good grip on the glass, that's a good sign, but yeah, be careful getting one with a damaged foot.

I sure am glad I did my research before gettin an anemone. I fought the urge for many weeks. I am pretty new at this and trying to stick to the "rules" and also keep "hardy" animals...that are easy to take care of. I did break with the rules a bit keepin my Fox in this 29 gallon tank but he is happy and very healthy. He is also very responsive to me and beggs for food. He eats out of my hand andI haveeven touched his sides a few times. I just know I am goin to get pokes someday.LOL I think I will always have a Fox.

I have a few dozen of these and I have found them quite easy to keep. Not a single one has moved from where I originally put it either. Like the above poster said, they all just grab food as it lands on them when I feed the tank, but you should feed them directly occasionally if they aren't getting much from the column. I'm going to get a few clowns and see if I can't find a few that will go in them, though they don't host clowns naturally.

I've found that (at least) my flower won't eat fish because it had the chance to grab a small yellowtail damsel that got too close. Gave the fish a sting I'm sure but released it very quickly. Boy did that fish give the anemone a dirty look!!!

Hey JustPhish....you say you have several, do they ever try and fight each other? I was wondering in case I ever saw another flower....I would like to put another one in the 20 if I could.
