I have a domino damsel that has gone from black to a purple color, almost translucent. When I first got him, he was completely opaque and "dark" black.

He is eating but seems to be twichy (darts around and hides more). He is the biggest of my 5 damsels and is still the bully. The other fish seem fine. I just wondering about his color.

The tank has only been up for 2 1/2 weeks, they were put in 24hrs after the water, readings have been constant at 1.021 SG, 1.0 nitrite, .25 amonia, 8.2 pH, 0 nitrate and a temp of 78 degrees.

The only lighting is the cheap fluorence that came with the tank.

hi.
The damsels need to have sufficient light to make enought Vitamin D for good health... just kidding.

Some damsels changes color when they got mature, I don't know if domino is one of them... anyone know?

My concern is why are there 5 fish in a tank after only 2 1/2 weeks?
What else is in there? The water conditions could be stessing the fish.

Because damsels are tough little guys and a lot of people use them to help cycle the tank.

They have been in there since the water was 24hrs old.

I also have 17lbs of LR and 8lbs of dead rock. Everything was bought from LFS. And yes I trust the guy.
