this is my friend's 60g tank that i have not seen in person yet, does not look like hair algae though.

I do not know what is causing this, look for fellow reefers for help.

parameters: 6 months old
pH 8.2, 0 ammonia, nitrites, nitrates
DAS H99 filter

3" sandbed, 40lbs live rock, with some base rock
hermits and snails for maintenance crew
3 MJ 1200 PH
5 stage RO/DI water
4 VHO on Icecap lights, 8hrs/day, only 3 months old
feeds 2x a day
B-ionic everyday

he wants a refug and sump, i do recommend this

i know some reefers think this green algae is ok, but would you want YOUR rock to look like this?

HOW to get rid of it? scrape it off

WHAT is causing it?
