Steve; Very impressive setup. I have your site bookmarked for future reference. I am curious about your comfort level regarding bulkhead through your tank. What are the chances that a leak happens after few years. My tank has been fine after three years I am not sure if this is a real concern or not. I hope this never happens but let us know your thoughts...
I have 500 MB of room instead of 12. I will re-post all the pics in 4 or 5 posts this weekend, because once I shut-down the old web, all the pics ive posted so far will turn into little rex X's.
Since I will have a huge amount of space on my web site. I will over the next few weeks, have everything I did in detail(On my web site). I have had alot of requests for details and I just dont have the time yet .
You're thinking along the right lines! However, if you look at his website, the LR in the 300g came from matured tanks. That can allow for a VERY short cycle time (as long as not too much is added too quickly  )
I have check everyday for Am, Nitrite. They are 0. There is 300 Lbs of LR matured. I had one day of brown algea, now that is all turning green. Nitrates are at 5.
Everything in the tank is extremely health. Except it looks like I have a few flatworm hitchhikers from a friends tank, that was holding my corals.
I will be using the flatworm exit, before I buy any fish(which is still weeks away). Since I probably only have 20-30 flat worms, there will probably be no harm done to the corals, I will still do a water change and run carbon.
I was under the impression that eventhougha tank is cycled, its not matured enough to keep things like corals and anemones. enlightnen me if im wrong please!
My sand bed is the only peice of the puzzle not matured yet.
I guess I dont understand what your saying?
Coral are differet than fish, alot of them get thier nutients from the light. Also have very little in terms of bio-load.
Like in my 300g I could probably safely have 25 fish If I choose to(probably only 10-12), but on the corals I could have as many as the space will allow, (except the cemical warfare that might go on between corals).
P.S. I would never even have anywhere near 12 fish any time soon.
Steve: nice Naso Tang, much better picture than Bill's posting. I met Bill for the first time this past Sunday. Nice & interesting personality. I enjoyed our discussion on the hobby etc.... Anyway I have a question about you parameters a very good. What brand of salt are you using and have you had to supplement it with any dosings of B-Ionics or other products. Calc, Mg & Alk in my new salt solutions are usually not that good...
Its a sweet fish. I went home at lunch and feed him again. Now he is eating everything I put in there.
I use Tropic Marin.
My cal and DKH(alk) were 320 and 7. Once I dialed in my Calcium reactor, the parameter boosted up. I have not tested Mag yet.
I do not dose anything and probably never will. Except maybe a small amount of Iodine. Ill do a 15% water change monthly.
I love this huge system. My temp only moves about 1 Degree at the most between day and night, even with 1600w of light, 3 ampmasters, mag 36, mag 2, mag 7 and a maxijet 1200.
How about an update? How's your tank doing. Has the summer gotten hot enough up there to cause you any temperature problems yet? Any problems or set backs?
