I'm looking to purchase a digital camera sometime in the near future. Anybody want to toss out a recommendation on one that they've used on their reefs/fish? I'd like to not go any higher than $350 - 400 max.

TIA

If at all possible, I'd wait 1-2 more months before purchasing a digital camera. The annual PMA photo show is just around the corner, and many manufacturers have several new models they are releasing that look terrific. A few suggestions in your price range (some may not be available at the time of this post):
Canon A70 (great image for the dollar)
Canon S230 (super tiny)
Fuji 3800 (used several times and liked a lot)
Fuji A303 (good overall unit)
Olympus Stylus 300 digital (weather proof)
Olympus C4000 (highest megapixel count per dollar)
Nikon 885 (nikons are generally all great at macros)
Nikon 3100 (not yet released)
Sony DSC-P8 (not yet released, but looks promising)
Sony DSC-P32 (fixed lens but cheap)

Or you can search the used markets for cameras like the Olympus E-10.

HTH. Tank photography is challenging, but rewarding.
(more available, but these usually more then suffice)

Myself, I'm holding out for that digital camera w/ the Fuovon chip. Sigma's got a camera w/ that chip in it and the photographs produced with it are simply amazing... Right now it's going for $1800, so I might be waiting a bit. ;)

I recently bought the Fuji FinePix 3800 and am very happy with it. It has a lot of manual overides, takes very crisp pics at 3.2 MP and has a 6X optical zoom. It sells for around $400, wich was a little more thatn I wanted to spend, but now I'm glad I did! Oh, Yeah, it also hsa a threaded adapter ring for adding macro and zoom lenses, perfect for shooting reef tanks.

Hey

I got a nikon coolpix 885. All my pix on the link in my sig are done with that. Mind that I am a very amatuer photog... Father in law just got that fuji 3800. Pics look awesome.

I got my 885 for 300$ at costco here in CA. If you cant get close to that price, I do recommend the FUJI. Go with the one with good optics.

And.... www.dpreview.com didnt see this link in here yet. Great review site. Very technical, very detailed.

good luck
