I have a 55 Gallon Fish Only tank. Operation a Tetratec PF300 Wet/Dry with one powerhead for counter circulation and about 60 lbs. live rock. I have one extra 10 gal. tank and various air pumps and other stuff. Is there a way to hook up the 10 gallon to the 55 to give more water volume, hence better eco? Some one mentioned a refugium. I dont know what a refugium is. If someone could be so kind as to shed some light it would be appreciated. Thanx in advance. :)

Hi there saltnmyeye,

A refugium is a place where you can Place live sand or Miracle Mud in. Also Calurpa A form of Seed weed. With that you want to keep a light on 24/7 to keep the Calurpa from going Asexual and it provides extra trace element to the tank.Copod and Anthopod will muiltiple in there too. :D

Here is what I did to my 55

Added 20 gal sump
Added DSB
Added LR in sump

I have stuff growing everywhere

If you can fit it, put an even bigger sump, I wish I had put the sump in the basement and made it like 100 gallons

how about this. My current 55 attached to a 30 and again attached to a 10 like in a line. Pull water out of the 55 via powerhead and run to 10 gal. and gravity feed to the 30 and from the 30 gravity feed to the 55 again. Hence 95 gallon volume?

I would assume you would want to use an overflow box to pull water/skim water from the main tank to the sump and pump up to the refegium and then gravity feed into the tank.
I would also add a skimmer into the sump and remove the wet/dry filter.
