Does anyone have any? In the pre-stocking phases of a 180, and would like a school of these, possibly 8-10, maybe less. Wondering about interaction with other fish, whether they become a pain over time, such as damsels, if they really school well or just spread out over the tank after a while, how hardy they are, anything. A friend of mine with about 10 years in the lfs business said that if I got 10 I would end up with 4. Is this the case? These fish will be placed in quarantine for a month or so in a 55 until the 180 is finished, so am researching now. By the way, i was influenced by a beautiful japanese tank into considering this species, but do not have the photo of the school in this particular tank. Does anyone know of the thread or that particular pic, it was quite memorable, but a while back. Thanks for the help! Joey

Also, any good vendor experiences to procure these from would be a plus, have looked at a few places, seem to be in short supply. Thanks again! Joey

I used to have one but sadly one day he came up missing. I was really bummed. If you find a place online that carries these, I'd be interested in knowing about it.

www.liveaquaria.com has had a lot of neat cardinal fish - the schooling type listed on their website lately - not always in stock. A school of longspines looks fantastic.

Yeah, I checked there first and they were out of the goldstriped, the ones I am looking for. I would like to get a school for the 180, don't want anthias or any type damsel, so was looking into these. I'm gonna keep looking, hopefully I will find some by the time I get some good advice on them, or I will not order them. Thanks! Joey

While not dealing with this species, my experience with the cardinals as a group is that you couldn't ask for a more peacable (and beautiful) group of fishes. Allow them their vagaries (many being nocturnal, wanting those ledges and caves but not necessarily USING them) and I think they're among the best.

Hey Joey,

Pardon me for barging into your thread, but are you coming to the Columbia Marine Aquarium Club meeting at the end of May?
