Hey all-
Maybe I should simplify what I said above, I will try. There are those out there who don't care how they make thier money/place in the world, and have no moral obligation to "sue thier way to the top". Just make sure you dont hand someone that victory by slandering them/thier products. You could be held liable, whether they have a crappy product or not.
On libel law- just state if its your opinion! Watch what you claim is fact. Its that easy. The quote about Wiess not knowing whats in his own stuff... well, that would be fairly easy for him to prove, and then go after you. Careful. I doubt he would, this Novak guy seems to be a rarity, in my opinion. <-
I have seen a few threads similar to this pop up, about bad customer service, bad products, shipping probs etc. This board is freedom of knowledge, and that is an amazing power. All you have to do is mind not what you say, but how you say it. Protect yourself, keep litigious people off your back.
And one last point- in the APD suit, quoted phone conversations came up as slander. If you cant prove they said it, IE email fax or recording, they can deny it. Then you dont have alot to defend yourself with.
I hop up on the soapbox on this as I met one of the defendents, heard the story from the APD side. Some people really lost alot of money, and alot of emotional energy. Just dont give em a chance to get you.
My 2 cents, greatly inflated... sorry for the poach n soapbox, BUT 'tis better to arm yourself with this knowledge voluntarily now, then be required to learn about it later. Trust me on that.
Boy, I tried to be simple, look what you get. And I apologize for the poach.
