14k hqi bulb 250watt?

Have u seen one or know where i can find one. Checked hamilton and all i saw were the regular halide bulbs.

By "HQI" do you mean a double ended lamp? Or are you looking for a Mogul lamp that's intended to run on an HQI ballast?

Sorry for the prolonged time between post, been away for awhile. I was talking about the double ended bulb. I have seen the 14k mogul base but was wondering is there a double ended one.

As you probably already know, the Kelvin ratings on halide lamps in this hobby are meaningless.

Although there's no 250 watt DE lamp that I know of "called" a 14K, the AB (Aqualine) 10K is actually closer to 13K (although in Sanjay's test the shield seems to attenuate the light back toward the 10K range).

Not sure about 250s, but I switched from running Ushio 150 DE 10Ks to the AB lamps, and they are noticeably bluer. Not what I would call a blue lamp, but white w/slight blue tint. IMO the AB 10K 250s are a bit whiter in appearance than the AB 10K 150s.

If you're looking for something bluer than the AB 10K lamp in DE, I believe your only other option at this time is the new 250 watt 20K DE lamp.

Thanks wolfman. When u say shield you are talking about the uv shield that the DE normally come with? Just asking. That is all that i saw at Hamilton Tech. was the 10k. Was hoping that they made another light that was inbetween the 10-20k range for the DE that is all. I didn't want to go all the way from 10K to 20K's. I like the AB 10k's that i have now was just wondering if there was something that was a little bluer being that i have no atinic supplement. thanks again.

Yes. I'm not sure what the effect is on the 250 watters, but on 150s in Sanjays tests the shield changed the apparent CCT. I assume this would happen with the 250s as well.

As far as I know your only choices in 250 watt DE at this time are 10K or 20K. Check out this thread to see the 250 DE 20Ks in action.

I've heard a few or our members from the UK mention this manufacturer in the past, but I never really looked into any of their products.

I've never seen Arcadia lamps for sale in the US. Anyone know if these are available on this side of the pond?

The only US distributor that appeared in the retail locator on the website is http://www.hikariusa.com/ but it looks like they only carry the fluorescent lamps by Arcadia. I suppose it's possible that they could get the halide lamps upon request...

Aqua-connect also do a 250w d/e 14000k bulb. I dont know if it is available in the US.
