Keeping it real,

Are you really keeping it real? I would think that term met to get along with everybody because it isn't worth my time or your time to read all of these BS posts. The average hobbyist is here to learn not to be patronized over what he or she said. Make your opinions about members and there reccomendations and keep it real to yourself......

I am not an advocate of kicking people off of BBS' but you are well on your way.

If i didnt know any better. I would say u were 16, in High School and think u know everything.... (Just by the words u type in ur posts)

I dont appreciate my post being highjacked for an argument..... Megadeath, reefnewbie and willC have been here alot longer than you. Show some respect. Look at there posts. Learn from there EXPERIENCE

In the line of work i do, Time and sweat is everything.....

FYI the color changes of this fish is not instant. it does go from orange with Blue uneven lateral and vdert lines to black. Per J. Sprung.......

Make sure you research every decision you make regarding this fascinating hobby. Each and every day poor decisions by uneducated persons are the cause of death for many saltwater organisms.

If you do not know, then ask! Back to top

How do I start,

ur first Question...

Yes and No. - with the more post you have that means you are taking an activ part in communicting with the rest of the hobbyists here. This is usually taught when you reach kindergarden...

I would take the advise of someone with more time and experience. that i have seen and READ than a junior member as yourself. your posts and the quality of them reflect on your standing here.

question 2. isn't a question. it is a statement.

I have seen chevron's with their color that were 4yrs old. not all of the color but some.....You might have a wild caught fish. but when you put it in a home aquarium they adapt. some fish loose the color completely regardless of species.....

question 3....

yes and no, within reason.. i am amazed by this hobby everyday. So it would really surprise me if it did something like that.

--- no questions are dumb... per your sig.....

go stomp off somewhere else...... and yelling at people will get you nowhere.

Nice try at avoiding my questions but maybe I should number them for you. How about that buddy.

1- If you purchased something that was bright orange and you were told that the color would "dull" would you be mad if the bright orange turned black? YES or NO

2- If you purchased something that was bright orange and you were told that the color would "fade" would you be mad if the bright orange turned black? YES or NO

3- Out of all of the people that have posted on this thread am I the only person who has claimed to have owned a Chevron? YES or NO

4- Out of all of the people that have posted on this thread am I the only person who has posted pictures of a Chevron that I claim to own? YES or NO

5- If one person has more posts then another it makes them more educated? YES or NO

5 Easy yes no questions please do not be scared to answer them.

BTW Your skimmer is a cheap knock off of a Euro-reef. If you would have done some RESEARCH before you purchased it you would have found out that the plastic used on your skimmer is cheaper and thinner then that on the Euro-reefs and yours will become brittle and crack over time. Just the facts buddy, please keep in mind this is not a cheap hobby and you should take into consideration the well being of the animals you have become the Guardian of. When you are ready for a Euor-reef CS6-1 I will sell one to you for $318 and that includes shipping. After all I am an authorized Euro-reef dealer.

Hey but what do I know, I have sumps bigger then your tank.

Apparently some of the posters here are ranting on bout experience with chevrons...... ALL Chevron tangs will lose their bright orange coloration as they mature. They become anywhere from dark black to dark brown with silver lines. The silver lines may or may not be striking due to variation.

The transition may take several months to several years depending on as yet unknown reasons/pressure. During the transistion the fish will look quite drab/ugly/beautiful depending on your personal tastes. The fish for the most part is drab and plain when compared to other Tangs such as the Hippo/Regal or purple or yellow or even the Black tang. It does not have striking colors is has muted colors.

Its main diet will be the algae it consumes as it cleans your rocks and glass. You will notice lots of "kisses" on your glass where it gleams algae through out the day. Due not get other fish such as "eyelash blennies" or "Lawnmower blennies" if you get this fish. It will out compete them and esentially starve them to death as these blennies will many times not take to flake or frozen to supplement their diets. It also has been known to harass and kill competitors such as those blennies but not other tangs.

They will usually also eat flake and frozen readily and require no real special food other than normal variety to its diet.

Its typical size when mature will be between 6-9" long. Though in the wild i have heard that some have reached 14". Fishbase.org might have move information.

Its a very peaceful fish and gets along with a WIDE variety of tangs. Its one of the less aggressive tangs you can purchase.

By dull or fade i believe everyone is saying the same thing with different words - the bright orange colors fade and dull with age - the fish changes color losing its bright orange hues and turns dark brown to black.

Proper diet will ensure that whatever the color it will be rich and deep. Adult Chevrons have never been "bright" or "vibrant" colored fish but are still a nice addition to any tank.

I know when orange turns black that is not a fade or a dull what do you think leftover?

I would be mad at myself for not doing my homework and researching a fish or invertabrate before placing it in my tank. I would be mad for realizing I could have or may have killed the animal out my ignorance.....

Your debate is about symantics with the color, going from bright orange to black is technicallly a color fade. The fish fades from one color other as it matures. Whether you are happy with that change is a matter or personal opinion.

In many cases fish colors fade - total or partial loss of color - due to stress or lack of varied or correct diet. Many fish that look muted or of weakend color intensity (also can be read as faded) can be restored to their correct hues and natural rich colors through proper feeding and husbandry.

Okay leftovers let me slow it down, I am not asking technically nor am I ask scientifically.

If you were told something that was BRIGHT ORANGE would FADE in color would you expect it to turn black?

If you were told something that was BRIGHT ORANGE would DULL in color would you expect it to turn black?

Real simple
