My T. Squamosa apparently doesn't like its placement (on the sand, facing up) - it keep trying to move around overnight. Any ideas what it thinks is wrong?
Squamosas should do fine on the sand, assuming everything else is OK. My derasa does the same thing, moving in the sand from opening and closing its shell. Nothing to worry about, IMO.
You might try getting him to attach his byssal thread to a piece of liverock or a flat shell you can place on the sandbed if you want him there. This might make him a bit more secure and would be easier to move if circumstances dictated. I could be wrong but I seem to remember these being a rock boring clam.
The only clam I have on my sandbed is a Hippopus. My maxima and squamosa are attached to the liverock.
