There is a lot of information on the use of kalkwasser. I have some additional questions. Is it wise to use it in the makeup water? If so, how much do you put in the makeup water. I use a 44 gal vat of R.O. water for makeup. I mix up a couple of teaspoons of kalk in a gallon of water, let it settle for a couple of hours and then drip it into the water. This shoots the PH of the R.O. water up to 10.45 - 11.00. Even after it stands for a day, it does drop down to 9.45 to 10.0. Is this too high? Is this enough Kalk for the makeup water? Should I add anything else to the makeup water? I would like to hear what other members do to their makeup water and what they add.

I have my makeup RO storage hooked to a Kalkwasser reactor. Water passing through the kalk reactor is controlled by a float switch. With the high pH, you want to make sure you do not "dump" large volume of the kalk RO at one time. Spread them out into continuous controlled drips.
