Hi, i'm thinking of buying one pinpoint conductivity monitor to help me to know when my DI resin is exuasted.

I've read that this pinpoint monitors only give readings in the single unit range. is this true?

If you visit http://www.americanmarineusa.com/ you will see one conductivity monitor displaying "0.02" but their user's manual states the single unit readings. How do you tell that your demineralised water is less than 1 microsiemens?

Thanks,

manklit

I've never used this unit. Giving the thread a bump.

I have one that reports in PPM, which tends to be what most people use. My RO/DI water is typically 0 ppm and I change the DI cart at 1 ppm.

hi.
For ultrapure water, only the last digit is good from regular conductivity meter like Pinpoint. Most of the time, you are only going to see "0.00" uS, which with +/-2% accuracy from full range, means nothing if you want to know rather it is 2.00 or 0.50 uS. But since many people use DI until the conductivity is about 5uS, Pinpoint is fine.

So to answer you question explicitly, you can't expect to get it to read anything less than 1uS in the lower (2000uS) scale.

The good thing about these conductivity/TDS meter is that you can pretent ignorant, and brag to people that you have 0.000000... uS, or 0.00000... ppm, because you see "0.00" on the display.
