The course format varies according to topic but the typical course includes: Lecture material that is uploaded to the MACO site
Twice Weekly question and answer sessions
Course specific Discussion board forums
and much more!

The classes are great! The twice weekly classes are held thru IRC.
I took the calcium reator course and ended up with a good addition to
my tank that I made myself. Not to mention the knowledge I got with it.
Can't wait to make a skimmer! :D

Yeh the classes are outstanding. I have been through one and have signed up for a summer class as well. Money very well spent IMHO.

Hi Bryan,

I had great anxiety when I signed up for the Acrylic course I completed about a month ago. I couldn't be more pleased with the whole arrangement. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming skimmer class and wish I could take some of the other classes that are running at the same time. Hope they repeat them.

Here's how our class worked:
First, we had weekly lessons prepared and distributed by the instructor. Then, we had two, two hour live discussions every week conducted in our own chatroom using free chat relay software. In between these official classes, a lot of people logged into the Acrylic class chat room and continued their discussions, asked questions of the instructor (he always seemed to be available, but I know he's got another job), and classmates. The logs of these chats were available on line within several days.
Lastly, we had weekly homework / labwork to do which was detailed in the lesson document.

I just couldn't be more pleased with the whole experience, not to mention the very professional product I was able to construct. I had a hard time believing I made it. I also feel like I made some friends in the class and looked forward to the live discussions. I'm looking forward to the next one.

HTH,
Hal

Thanks for the input guys,

Sounds like a good program.

Unfortunatly, I think I won't be able to swing it this summer, I have too much on my plate. But I think I will definitely take one next year. I really need to learn all the tips for working with acrilic as I get about an idea a week that I want to try on my tank, but I can never figure out how to build them so they won't leak.

See ya

We have a couple that are less hands on and more course like. This summer we have Care and Behavior for Reef Fishes and Reef Lighiting. Both should be great courses about subjects that frequently come up.
