I woke up this morning and my clam was closed and it has like all this mucus coming over the back of it, the mucus was clear and it looked like a sac. It is now somewhat open but the mantle is retracted and when I put my hand near it the clam doesn't close like it used to.

The first part is not that bad, since they will make this mucus when they are irrated. Don't bother it any more, and just keep an eye on it.

If you can see particles flowing in and out of the clam via the siphons, you may want to watch its state (living or not) this way. Ususally, when the clam does not response, it is too late to do anything about it.... Good luck.

Glad to hear that it is still alive and well. Sometimes, we just love the critters too much. :)

I think the clam is a goner, it won't close when i get near it now and when I push it close it pops right open like when you steam them. I can also see right through the hole in the top of it and it goes right through the back of its shell where I guess tissue isn't.
