Seafood from Foodstore?

I would like to feed my anenome as he/she/it seems to enjoy some tasty krill every now and then. Only problem is I'm having a time of finding frozen food around me.

Could I just use squid/shrimp from the local supermarket? I was worried about things such as formaldihide and such. Any suggestions?

Hopefully if the seafood is intended for people to eat it, there wouldn't be too much formaldehyde! I don't hesitate to feed supermarket fish to my critters, including my hadonni anemone.The choice of seafood would depend on your species of anemone.

Restaurant/food grade seafood is the best you can possibly give your animals. Make your seafood salesperson happy!

Good point about the seafood being good enough for people to eat, should be good enough for my reef. Although sometimes I think the reef gets more attention than I do

I couldn't find much on what carpet anenomes eat, any suggestions? Maybe I'm googling for the wrong words.

It's just a yellow carpet, been around despite all the problems and moves I've made. Must be the hardiest anenome ever.

As far as I know carpets tend to be fish-eaters. Could you describe it? (short or long tentacles, etc). Maybe that would help someone ID it and what it likes to eat.

My anenome is a saddle, hadonni from the pictures I've found online. Seems to like shrimp. Think maybe I'll pick some up on the way home tonight.

Yeah, I go and ask for a little pinch of squid, two scallops, and a tiny handfull of shrimp. :lol:

I would've thought they'd turn around and say, sorry there's a minimum order of .25lbs or something? I know they're going to give me weird looks.

Hehe...this post reminds me of that scene in Deuce Bigalow where the guy pours fresh bottled water into his fishtanks, and then drinks filthy brown tap water himself. :lol:

The seafood guy at my Safeway used to give me free fresh shrimp, as long as I only got one at a time. He said he could justify it as a "sample". I switched over to a big bag of frozen seafood eventually. I found a bag called seafood sampler that had shrimp, squid, octopus, mussels, and scallops. A great variety at a low price.

Now I use seafood from the restaurant/bar I work at to feed the large tank there. The owner jokes that the fish eat as well as the customers, and it's true! I also use a tiny bit of beef (a peach pit sized amount daily to a 275g tank) when I feed them...does anyone else feed a little beef to their fish? My majestic angel loves it even more than shrimp.
