well in an established reef peeple usually recommend adding pepermint shrimp or injecting them with kalkwasser. But since im still curing this rock, im not sure what the best method would be. One of the aptasia got blown off of the rock and attached itself to the side of the bin. I simple removed it with a net, easy enough.
The above suggestions would probably work. My suggestion would be to leave the aptaisia there until the tank has cycled and is safe for other inhabitants and then you can add the peppermint shrimp. That worked fine for me on my first tank. Just make sure the shrimp have other sources of food as it won't take them long to make your aptaisia disappear. Some places may even have a mated pair of the Peppermints w/ eggs already developing. Can be a very unique experience.
I wouldn't suggest you wait too long... Aptasia spread rather quickly and may not be eaten by the pep. shrimp if they get too large. I would first attemp injecting them, has worked well for me in the past...
i would stick it right in the side of it and inject it. also when mixing kalk wasser to kill these add it in the cup untill it dosent desolve into soultion anymore. if you cant directly inject them then right in front of it will work just be carefull you dont add to muck and screw up you tank chemistry.
That's what works for me. So far it's been about 99% successful on the first treatment.
I mix the kalk solution to a solid white, milky look and boil it in the microwave right before application. The extra heavy kalk mix will look like a slurry underwater and I coat the whole aptasia.
I usually reduce circulation in the tank during treatment, so the kalk slurry can lay over the area where the aptasia was for a while.
You can also burn it off with a sodering iron if you can get the rock out of the water. I actually used a blow torch (hey it was handy and I didn't have anything else to do with it.)
