I just recieved my cs6-1 today and set it up about 30 mins ago....The damn thing keeps filling the collection cup with water! I have unscrewed and screwed the collection cup 3 times now to make sure it was tight, why is this happening! please help!
not to sound smart, but did you read the manual on how to adjust the outflow from the skimmer? if it's not set right, the water level inside the skimmer will be too high and cause water in the cup.
Just 2 quick questions to start with. Is the output tube all the way down and what is the water level in the sump. I believe they recommend about 6 - 8 inches.
the out tube is all the way down(yes i read the manual thats why its all the way down ). Next the water level is about 10-12 inches. the whole main tube is filled with bubbles
take that back, now its at 11 1/4in of water with the block and i cant go any higher because of the stand. is that the problem, or is it something else?
I am looking at the instructions that came with my CS8-2 and it states the ideal water for optimal skimmer performace is between 6 and 8 inches. I am guess that the water level in the sump is definately your problem.
well i put the skimmer in a tub with about 10in of water from the faucet and it did not fill up with water at all. Ok now my next question, how the **** am i going to cut one of my baffles down so that the water level goes down in my sump? How can i cut it while its siliconed in place? should i just try and notch it with a hack saw....im assuming ill have to drain the sump a bit!
Is it glass? If thin enough you could try scoring it and tapping it at the score to cause the break (father-in-law does stained glass work so that is how my baffles were made). If they are acrylic, got a dremel?
i really hope that little pieces of acrylic wont hurt anything as alot droped in the water and has now been shot into my main tank Bastards, i tried to net out as much as possible!
