I had a simular experience with the same company. I will not give the name either, but will give a hint. - The name ends in "live.com".
I placed an order for some snails last Friday night. I knew it would not be sent out until Moday, so I selected Tuesday Delivery.
I could not sleep Monday night for some reason and was up until 4PM Tuesday. No Delivery. At 4PM I go to sleep with both my mother and grandmother in the house. The house was open and no one even drove up. The driver from DHL said that he tried to deliver it around 5PM.
I wake up at 8PM Tuesday expecting to see a package in the living room. No package. This is when I find out (online) that the driver "attempted" to deliver. I immediatly call DHL and was on hold for more than 45 minutes (yes, I counted. No exageration) before I got ahold of someone. They called the local office for me while I was still on the line and the night shift manager said it was too late to re-deliver. She did however, promise the package would be delivered by 9AM Wednesday and had to hire a special delivery copany to guarantee that. It arrived at 8AM!
To give DHL credit, it was the driver's laziness that caused this problem. Chances are that I was the last on the list or close to it. They really did work hard to correct it once the situation was brought to their attention.
I only lost two snails, which I did recieve credit for. What ticks me off is that no shipping company options were ever offered and no e-mail was ever sent asking which I would rather use.
I would never choose DHL. Great customer service aside, they suck at making deliveries, from past experience.
