Hi, I have had my list set for a long time, we have yet to buy the first fish. They are:

3 carpenter Flasher Wrasses
2 Pj or B&W Cardinalfish
1 fire goby
1 Crowned Pearlyscale Butterflyfish
1 Longnose Hawkfish

A Doctor my wife works with is going to break down his tank and has a marine Betta he will give us.

Will it work in there with the others? Should I replace one of the others with it? What place in line should it have if I do

My tank 55 gal corner bow, 20 sump, DSB Liverock

Thanks for the help

Bryan

I was thinking of replacing the Pearlyscale with it

I believe Marine Bettas are a type of grouper. It will get a fairly good size and eat any small fish.

But I could be wrong.

marine bettas are related to the groupers

they max out at around 6", and are absolutely peaceful

however-anything that can fit in their mouth may become a snack

they don't, for the most part, really hunt their tankmates down, however, especially if fed well

all in all, a peaceful, mellow, and rather shy fish w/a wonderful personality

one of my top ten favorites

(but i already told you that, bryan, in #reefs  )

they are fairly sturdy and disease resistant, as well, and usually eat very soon after arrival to captivity

Revised list sounds fine, and marine bettas are peaceful except with crustaceans. But since you already plan on a hawkfish, it's a moot point.

Just another vote for the marine betta. Gourgeous fish, a bit on the shy side, and a low key tankmate. Just don't plan on adding any shrimp to the tank :)

Brian - I have a marine betta that I adopted living in my 215 gallon. Beautiful fish , dumb as a rock andvery shy - you will need to take extra time to make sure he gets enough to eat. Mine lives with sundry other fish and a Coral Banded Shrimp that he ignores (so does my tuskfish believe it or not) I wouldn't put peppermints or cleaners in though - you would get to see their extra cool attack and devour moves. Really one of the neatest fish you can get for a tank - if you can live without shrimp or very small fish I think it's a winner (forgot he also ignores my neon gobies).

We are going to get him, he will be the first introduced, as he is available right now, and I am still having trouble finding the Flasher wrasses
