This tip is supposed to face sideways! How can you put it facing to the celling or tank? Are you sure yours an AB?

I have the aquastarlight future 2-150watt unit. I can tell you that it goes up towards the reflector. This piece is called the nipple. It cannot face sideways.
TLC,
So what AB unit did you get you lucky dog? 8)

Well, i've just checked out now and in my fixture the "nipple" is facing sideways.

In the instruction panflet that came with the lamp, they state that too!

I have a 150W lamp.

The only explanation i could think off, is that Europe lamps (220V) are diferent that USA lamps.

I live in Europe :D !!!!

I have a PFO mini-pendant that's a de 150w. When I first installed the bulb (according to the manufacturers directions) the nipple was up, but it actually touched the reflector. I called PFO about this problem. They said that they've installed bulbs both ways have not noticed a difference in output performance. So, I'm running mine nipple down. I didn't want any part of the bulb touching the reflector. HTH.
