I am setting up a new system with 2 90 gal aquriums connected together.

One will have a majority of the live rock and the DSB, the other will be the dispay tank. I am going back and forth between having a 75 gal. between them to act a sump/refugium.

I am not sure if I want to build a coil denitrator or a use a plenum system to accomplish denitration.

Right now on my 125 I use LOTS AND LOTS of water changes to keep the nitrates down. That get's expensive and I could use the extra money for added livestock, etc.

Does anyone have experience with either or both? Which is better in your considered opinions???

IMHO, Why have the mechanical denitrator when your using a DSB? The DSB should take care of it, and doesn't have the risks of the mechanical denitrators. HTH, FWIW.

I would also like to point out that there is a difference between a proper plenum and a deep sand bed. I believe that the DSB would be the easier (and more natural) method to use, also being MUCH easier to install.

hi.
What do you want to stock the tank with? Will it be most predatory fishes? I ask because denit may not be necessary unless you are going for a high nitrate setup with heavy feeding and little water change.
