I already soak his food in Selcon, but I'd like to know if there's something that I can add to my titan trigger's food to fatten him up. I feed him three times a day, and he's still very skinny...so much so that I'm starting to get worried...I think there might be something wrong with him.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Peace,

Chip

Highly possible he may have some kind of intestinal parasite too. I don't know of any commercial de-wormers but you might check up on it. Fish that eat a lot and refuse to put on any weight have often had worms in my experience - seen it a lot with puffers and some gobies.

I agree with Techno.
Also there is an excellent chance that your fish is dying of the effects of cyanide.
Most triggers, tangs, butterflys and angels come from the Phillipines and Indonesia where the use of cyanide is rampant.

Well, this is supposedly a Red Sea titan trigger. I've had him for over a year now, and purchaed him from The Marine Center.

If it was cyanide-caught, wouldn't he be dead already?

How do I get rid of whatever ails him?

Thanks to all...

If it is from the Red Sea it is not cyanide poisoning.
Feed her a dewormer, metrondiazole.
If you can't get a hold of it right away, feed garlic extract as much as you can get into her until you get the drug.
Good Luck

Metrondiazole...who makes that? Aquatronics? Is it a liquid or tablet?

I do supplement with garlic extract, so it seems to do nothing to help.

I'll be able to monitor more closely when I move the fish into the shop, starting today. I have to break that tank down in preparation for my move in a few weeks.

Thanks.

Not that I've noticed at all. I watch the fish at least a few times a day, but have not noticed it going to the bathroom much at all.

metrondiazole.

I found it here at the shop. It's "Hex-A-Mit" by Aquatronics. I'll begin treating him right away.

Thanks for the help, Naesco!

I know this capsule is powdered and should be put right into the tank, but would it be possible for me to soak his food in it instead? I wonder if it would harm him to be directly ingested...anyone?

Peace,

Chip
