My reef and fish tank just tested at 7 meq/l alkalinity...which apparently is high, but I don't know whether being high is a problem...most of what's talked about is dealing with low alkalinity.

I did notice my PH had dropped a little...it had been about 8.2 the last time I tested, and now is between 7.8-8.0

Calcium, using two different test kits, is between 360-400.

All other tests are excellent.

What would you suggest?

That's high. What are you using to suppliment your alk and ca? I would tone it down a little and let your alkalinity drop, 19 dkh (7 meq/l) is high; but not excessive IMO. I would bring it down to 12 dkh (4.2 meq/l) this is still well higher than NSW but will help the calcification process.

I would just stop supplimenting carbonate or however your boosting your alkalinity and just let it naturally drop. From your pH I would assume your using a calcium reactor?

I was using the B-Ionic 2 part calcium/buffer a few times a week...I don't know if that affects alkalinity...I don't think I am using anything else that would.

Yep.......Had to sleep it off. Mixed wine(1 quart),beer(13 cans),and vodka(1 pint).I am surprised I feel as well as I do today. Seems like I lost a day somewhere.

The buffer part of that system effects your alkalinity, it buffers it. So stop using it for awhile and just add the calcium for now and keep your calcium up and let the alkalinity fall into line. No worries at all.
