Wow, that's weird... same thing happened to me.
On our way home from the theater, we stopped by this mom and pop pet store. They had a bunch of colorful fish in the back, a few clown fish one of those hippo fish and even a fish that looked like the one in the movie with the light on his head, you know the one with the fishing lure like thing?
So, for $30 I picked up a 10 gal startup, the clown was $15 and the angler, or whatever it is called was $50.
Next stop was the local grocery store and I picked up some Morton salt... you know the one with the skipping girl with the umbrella.
Finally home, I made the salt water and filled up the tank. The owner said I didn't have to dechlorinate the water well since the salt is sodium chloride anyway. So in went the fish. The water in the bags seemed a little colder than the water in the tank, but I figured the fish were probably getting hot swimming around in those little bags for the past 4, maybe 5 hours, so in they went!
As soon as I put them in, the darn angler or whatever his name is ATE NEMO! My daughter cried! So... back to the store but instead of another clown fish, I got the much bigger hippo. Well, it turns out the clown must have been poisonous or something (are they?) because as soon as I got back the angler was dead too! Darn! Well, I put the angler in my 'frige for now. I plan on returning him tomorrow. But now this hippo tang is swimming around all funny. Bumping into the glass and the plastic plants. He's got a lot of white spots all over him too. I don't know if it's all the swimming he's been doing or what but his gills are really going nuts, like he's out of breath or something. What now should I do? My daughter is all upset!

Nemo, take the fish back or they will die. Doesn't matter if you get your money back or not, do you want to watch them keel over? Do you want your kids to see that?

That tank is WAY too small for a hippo tang, you have got to get him out there. Hippo tangs need tanks of at least 75 gallons or larger.

Go read the articles given to you on doing this. Keeping marine fish is really among the most difficult of the aquatic hobbies. Please learn more and know what you are doing before you dive in head first like this again.

Have you people not figured out that this is a joke? Someone who just bought a tank isn't going to get on this website in all likelihood. If they had a friend that was cool enough to give them this site, they would have a good mentor for starting this hobby. Come on everybody read this thread again & realized you been duped.

If we've been duped... the sad part of this is, is that it was because... PEOPLE DO STUFF LIKE THIS!

Maybe so but I have seen juvinile Blue's and percs advertised as "Nemo & Dory" !!! Sad but true ! And this was at a local store ! I asked him about it and the guy told me that people were calling in complaining because as he says "They just know nothing about Saltwater set-ups" My response was "well man, you can expect to sell these set-ups and expect they people not complain" and he said it had mostly to do with Cyano outbreaks... I kinda shrugged him off and kept looking around, I wasnt in the mood to argue with him...

The people that do stuff like this are not going to take part in an online forum for people that take the time to try and do this hobby right. Think about it, he would buy his saltwater equipment @ Wal Mart or K Mart if they sold it.
I mean, what are people actually thinking? Do they keep their dog in the closet? 2 yellow tail damsels in a 5 could do really well.
