Where could I get these white stuff besides going to a LFS? These are probably the same stuff that is in pillows, or use as Xmas decorations. Anyone tried Walmart or Arts and Crafts stores?

We, being the creatures we are, are leery of products that aren't manufactured for aquarium use. However, I wouldn't be averse to trying it with some feeder gups or (salt acclimated might be best) mollies. Plastics can be made so many ways, and I think this might come under that heading.

I'm a bit weary of material not specifically proven for aquarium use since some padding and/or insulation material (which "filter floss" is) may be chemically treated for specific application. Filter floss is fairly affordable, so I used to get mine from online vendors like Pet Warehouse (www.petwarehouse.com). I don't use filter floss any longer since all I own are reef tanks.

When I had freshwater tanks and a canister filter, I bought arts and crafts floss at Wal Mart...I believe it was the stuff they use to fill stuffed animals/pillows and such....same stuff as the "aquarium floss" just that your not paying the high markups for "aquarium safe" written on it...

I would say search out some online resources and see what the best price is. then maybe buy some and compare the two brands.. maybe even call the makers and see whao produces the product for them....
