Who gets in and out of the hobby with the seasons?

This summer I really took a break from the hobby. Not to say I broke down the tanks or anything but I lacked on maintance and really lost alot of intertest. I stopped cleaning my skimmers but every week or two. Water changes became once a month or less, ect. All my corals and fish are fine just cant see in the tanks as well with the coralline all over the front.

I just deverted my spending and time else where. I only get one day a week off work and it being summer and all I did lots of diving. On all my days off and any extra money I had went into diving. Now that diving season is coming to an end I see my self gettting back into the tanks.

DO allot of you go through these lulls of interest? Or is it just me?

Hey, nice to see you back Ben

I think with most hobbies (and not just reefkeeping), people's interest wean during the summer months. I know for a fact online community participation drops from June to end of September. I don't think it's just you. I know I am more lax about my reef tank during summer, although I'm not sure why since I don't really do much different now.

Glad to see you back Ben. I was wondering where you got to. Did you get any pics while you were on your diving trips?

Yeah I go thru similar lulls of interest during the summer months. So many other things take my immediate attention and the tank takes a back seat sometimes.

I am a Hobby Jumper and often loose interest in one hobbyand switch to another,however this hobby has been so intense and addictive that I am usually doing something with it.

Atleast Im not the only one, dont get me wrong I love the hobby. I didnt take to many pics diving this year. In the lakes and off Virginia Beach the vis was way to low. I love taking reef pictures but dont get to go tropical again untill next may, unless I can go a few days in November.
