First what are the differences between return pumps that are in line and return pumps that are submerged in the sump. Also I'd love to hear any suggestions for pumps for my 75 gallon with two 1" overflows and 3/4" returns that ill be running thru two SCWDs.

The second is a plumbing question. What are the big differences between threaded and slip bulkheads and other fittings. I know what they are I guess I just don't understand why you would use anything other than threaded. Also does anyone have any recommendations for where I should get all my plumbing supplies.

Last question has to do with the sump I want to build. I was going to start with a tank and modify it to my needs. If its a glass tank will I have trouble attaching pieces of acrylic to it. What should I use to attach stuff silicone or some type of acrylic glue. I guess along the same lines I'll be attaching two overflows to an acrylic tank. What should I use as adhesive.

Ok really last question. Can you shorten ball socket joint tubing.

Sorry for so many questions in one post. Thanks in advance for any info.

The setup configuration is the only difference. Obviously, some submergable pump can't be use inline, and most inline pump can't be used submerged. For high flow rate, most pump are inline.

Slip fitting is cheaper, and once glued, is more reliable than threaded fitting.

Home Depot or other plumbing supply stores.

Yeah, glass and plastic don't glue too well. Your best bet is to use silicone (aquarium safe type) glue. Solvent cement won't work on glass because no many chemical can dissolve glass.

You can take the intermediate sections out and shorten the tubing.

for your 75 i would say go with a velocity T4(1225 GPH @3ft head). its the quietest one out there but its said to add some heat to the water but its also said that placing a small computer fan blowing over the case of the pump solves this.

for me this is not an issue as my tank is at 68 deg. and the hottest it got during the heat wave was 72[ i had it with just freshwater to see if i would need a chiller]

tif you want to look into them marine depot has a good price on them. 159 $
