Has anybody ever used a fish trap to catch a fish in their tank? I have a damsel that is a pain in the ass and wont stop picking on the other fish. My wife wont stop keeps thretening me that she is going to take the tank apart just so she can catch him. Obviously I dont want that to happen. I need to get rid of that little bastard. I wish there was a laser that I could use to burn his eyes......er I mean, nevermind. I hate him so much but I dont know how to get rid of him. Please help. I need suggestions.

Yeah, I have used a fish trap to catch two pygmy angels that were eating my corals. I used a homemade one, the kind where you wait for the fish to enter the trap and then yank it out. It had a little trap door that slammed shut when I pulled the cord to get the trap out.

You have to leave the trap in all the time so they get used to it, and feed in the trap to encourage the fishes to enter. I spent several evenings in a chair in front of the tank, with my hand on the cord to yank the trap out when one went in. Have a drink and a magazine or something so you don't just get bored and give up. I even let them go in and out of the trap a few times until they were confident enough to go way to the back before I yanked it out. I wanted to get each one on the first try.

Some people have also used tiny baited hooks to catch damsels out, but the trap worked well for my two angels. You just have to be patient.

i used to have a small clear bowl, the kind that you would put goldfish in. all i do is put it near where the fish you wanna catch hang around. you have to wait of course until the fish gets in the bowl, but i managed to caught it. putting in some food in the bowl may also help

I caught that little bastard saturday. I got some size 16 hooks from wal mart and some three pound fishing line. I put a small piece of shrimp on the hook and tossed it in. The hardest part was keeping all the other fish away from the shrimp. The damsel helped with that. This is when being a bully caught up with him. He was so worried that another fish was going to take his shrimp he nailed it and I jerked his but out of the tank. He now resides in my friends tank. Wont be long before he is hating that fish. My fish are a lot happier. They have full run of the tank.

What other fish do you have and what size is the tank?
