OK FIRST I WOULD LIKE TO START OUT BY SAYING I AM NOT YELLING. nor am i talking softly. I AM JUST TALKING. Ok boys and girls I want to see pics of the strangest ting that lives in you tank. IM TALKING ABOUT THE THINGS YOU NORMALLY CANT BUY IN A FS. Things the fs got in on accident. STUFF LIKE THAT. I myself have a big asz scallop. IT LOOKED LIKE A PIECE OF LIVE ROCK. As i was looking at the polyps on it my wife said "it just moved". I THOUGHT SHE WAS CRAZY BUT THEN I SAW IT MOVE. I asked how much they said $25 and it has been living in my tank for about 6 months. IT IS ABOUT THE SIZE OF A SOFTBALL. It never opens more than 3/8 of an inch. THE BOTTOM IT IS ACTUALLY EMBEDDED IN A ROCK. I usually have to point him out to people because he looks so much like a rock.

Well that is mine what is yours. Please post pics. Anybody can say they have an Architeuthis or a Megalodon.

This looks like a clam that covered really well with coralline algae.

I'm with Robin. Believe it is a clam. Sometimes I've had to rearrange some live rock on my reef and find much smaller versions of these guys. My first thought is that they are old dead clam shells, but I've often found out they were alive and just doing fine, thank you.

We've got some Amphioxus, better known as lancelets, in our reef tank at UCDavis. They filter feed phytoplankton from what I understand. They're vertebrates but lack jaws like fish. They look like a thick white leech that burrows into the sandbed, very trippy looking. I'll try and snap a pic soon. There's also some weird type of purple Cnidarian, not a coral, anemone, or jellyfish, I'll have to ask the boss what they are....

OOPS! The above info is incorrect. They lack a vertebrae, but
they possess a notochord so that places them in the Phylum

Hey, Reefguide, I have 3 or 4 of those Scutela in my tank. Definitely not something you can get at the lfs, although I hear they are good algae eaters.
