I'm getting canopy of my tank fairly tight for the possible inclusion of some wrasses- but the Oceanic center-brace is so big I'm wondering how likely it is that one jumps up there and cooks....

Anybody?

I was feeding my tubastreas the other evening with a pipette in one hand. My other hand was sort of grabbing onto the top rim. My wrasse jumped out of the water about 2" and bit my baby finger. 8O Honest! Sorry, off topic but I had to post this one.

I lost a longnose hawk that way, in a 60, even. Found him all crisp, right up there on the brace, so close, and yet so, so far away. :|

Maybe you could form a triangle with plastic strips (with the brace as a base) so that the fish would fall on either side if you're worried. I assume it would be hidden by your canopy.

I have heard about people finding thier neon gobies all crispy on the crossbrace.

Maybe one could make something out of acrylic to go on top of the brace, that would give it a slope and allow the fish to roll off.

Here is my idea:

hold on

Set up a pressure sensor under the brace

Hook that up so when a fish jumps up there it starts a timer

After the appropriate amount of time, depending on the type of fish you have, have the timer alert you
