can I be adding Phosphates, nitrates and more, by leaving it on the system too long...
How long is too long to keep ur filter socks on..I have the (a), (sorry i had to) large ones and it often overflows (lol) if i leave it too long, but can I be adding Phosphates, nitrates and more, by leaving it on the system too long...
Uh oh... I've been swapping mine out when the water starts creeping up to the rim... about every 4 - 5 days. I don't bother rinsing it in the sink, I just wait until I have 4 or 5 of them and throw them in the washing machine with bleach.
i wash mine with bleach in the washing machine. i think it's easier and more thorough than rinsing them with ro. i leave mine on for 2-3 days at a time
and he asks me why his PO4 is high. :irked:I get lazy  and leave them in the tank for a week or so. I know that they need to be changed more often.
emps, make sure to use regular bleach. None of that scented stuff as it will take your tank in a matter of minutes. (so I hear anyway)
If's funny how most people preach that you should not use soap or detergent in any of your fish buckets and so on and no one has asked? what up with the soap we use in our washing machine..Is that ok to do? Throw them into the washer with bleach? I usually just try to rinse them out with some RO water as best as possible.
