Hi guys...

i am getting tired of turkey basting the rocks every couple days in the tank (see below),and getting huge clouds of detritus out of them, the Aerofoamer is keeping algae probs at bay and water quality in check, but i can't seem to keep things in suspension for exporting,i have 6 powerheads in the tank moving things around but that only seems to help when i'm doing the old baster bit (most heads pointing at the overflow box and one straight up for surface movement),any tips on how to keep this crap out o the rocks?,i have these powerheads well hidden and would hate to try to hide more, toss a couple pumps in there?,all suggestions are appreciated...the tanks is run thru an overflow box into a sump that contains floss which i change every couple days (after basting) and the return is a Laguna pump rated at 1000gph (any stronger pumps or the return and i have splashing everywhere,i'd hate to replumb things as it wouldnt solve the problem).....thanks agian......Riot.......

I've found alternating current to be the key, I use a seaswirl and my powerheads on a neptune with silient x10's.

The reason, when allt he current is static, detrious settles down easily, if the current is random/changing (swirl & wavemaker) then the detrious tends to keep getting moved around.

The downside, I have to blast off my rocks & corals all the time, southdown is always getting kicked up, heavier grade sand wouldnt have this problem, I'm using a 1000gph return, and 4x mj1200's on the wavmaker, on a 75g tank.

i tend to squirt the rocks every couple days anyway...even if i don't see a need.
doing this will still blast crap out from the pores of the rock if you directly squirt into them. i say this because you made comment of the stuff coming out from the rock.
