I am putting up a SPS tank (72x30x30) that will have as its primary source of lighting 3 400w 20KK bulbs. Also mounted above the tank are 6 96w PCs. I need to replace all of the PC bulbs and I am looking for a recommendation. My thought is to light the lamps as follows:
number of lamps - type of lamp - bulb - time simulation - duration left on
2 - 96w PC.....bulb "a"...................dawn - 1 hr
6 - 96w PC.....bulb "a"+"b"..............morning - 1 hr
3 - 400w MH..20KK........................daytime - 8 hr (maybe leave the PC's on during this time as well?)
6 - 96w PC.....bulb "a"+"b"..............evening - 1 hr
2 - 96w PC.....bulb "a"....................dusk - 1hr
moon lamp?
I am not a fan of the 6700 "green/yellow" color but if they will aid sps growth in this setup I would be willing to try it(PC's will be 8-10 inches from the water surface, not ideal for them but getting them any closer obstructs the light from the MH), otherwise I am leaning towards either running all 50/50 (10KK and True Actinic 03) or True Actinic 03 as bulb "a" (dawn/morning/evening/dusk) and 10KK as bulb "b" (morning and evening). Another option is to remove the PC's all together and run 20KKs 12 hrs a day.
What do you think is the best use of the PC's in this setup?
