DO NOT USE COPPER in your main tank you can try it out in a hospitial tank, but I would not waste my time. Garlic paste works very well mix it up in your fishes food let it soak in for awhile. This is a temp soultion if your water parmeters are bad all the garlic paste in the world will not help. Also their has been some talk about Ginger helping out with Ick outbreaks. HTH

Plenty you can do, just don't do it in the main tank.

Get a Rubbermaid container, a cheap heater and a cheap filter and there you have it, a quarantine tank. That is the proper place for meds

Try the hyposalinity method in either the main tank with no inverts or in a quarantine. I have tried this and it works well. Slowly lower the salinity to about 1.014. At the same time, raise the temp. to about 90 degrees F. Leave it like this for a while and it should work. I like it since it's natrual and it is easy.

I would remove the fish to a separate tank. and start treating with medication. Unfortunately the other problem you might face is that the ick just doesn't disappear. It's still in the main tank. I've battled with it myself. And being in a large tank it's very hard to treat. Remember as long as you have fish in that tank that ick is gone to be there. My option was to take the fish out of the tank and treat them all and leave the tank void of fish for six weeks or thereabouts. I would specially keep an eye on your tangs. There notorious for being ick magnets. One other point I need to make. You mentioned you had no test kits I find that a little trouble some. How do you go about checking water parameters. More than likely something happened in the tank and without the test kits you are unaware of it. I would strongly urge you to purchase some test kits. I hope this doesn't sound like I'm lecturing you. Just trying to help.
