Caught this hitchhiker eating my xenia (grows like a weed, anyway). It looks kind of "polyp-ish", but am not really sure. So, what is it?

Thanks,

Lee

Xenia is definitely the victim here. It did manage to pull free but does have some minor damage to the part that was stuck in the "mouth" of the other thing. After it freed itself, it developed a blister-looking thing about 1/2" down from the head.

I had thought it could possibly be zooanthid, but can't seem to find a pic of one that looks like what I posted. There are 2 of whatever this is on the same rock and appear to be seperate but now the larger of the 2 (and apparently the hungrier) has another smaller one growing out of it's base.

Thanks,

Lee

hi.
Xenia can't eat, Danm...
Maybe I should use the term "attack" Who is attacking who. The reason I said that is the zoanthid can't reach that far, but xenia can. I've never seen xenia engaged in chemical warfare, but I am sure most corals has capability to do so. When I looked at that pic, I thought the xenia initiated the attack.

hi.
The Xenia just was probing around like what they do all the time... trying to cover/invade the whole real estate of the tank. But unfortunately, this one happened to touch the zoo.'s mouth, and got caught in it.

I use devil's hand and zooanthid to keep my Xenia where they belong.
