My 40 gallon is overgrown with corasl that I dont have the time or space to attach and trade/sell.

Mostly colt, devils finger, type corals. SPS are easy enough I could glue and trade/sell nearly the same day. I also have a large clam (derasa) and Anemone competing for the sand space, cant frag these.

I feel bad fraging and flushing them away but dont have any space for un attached frags. It seems just easier to flush them right now but I think I would feel bad doing this. If I dont do it soon the corals will shade the lower ones too much including the Anemone and clam.

Who else does this with there excess coral growth?

If nobody wants them, we just bring them to the LFS and take whatever they give us. Better than the toilet...

Never did flushing, but I bury the unsalvageable softies and anemone in the garden.

I can always find LFS to take my live frags, don't have any problems there.

Or if you know a fellow reefer, send the cuts home with them and let them do the attaching.

I dont have space to attach them and make them shippable, does your LFS take unattached frags of soft corals?

Mine dont so this isnt an option, and leathers, colts, devils finger corals arnt the most sought after of frags so giving them away isnt going to last.

Anyway thanks for the responces!

I hate to say it but I composted a lot of Capnella and Green Star Polyps in the last year... No one around here to take it and no LFS is even interested.

I get little frags of m. digitata all the time that I just toss. Little tips are always breaking off that aren't really worth trying to transplant.

I have a colt coral that grows like wild fire. I also have a lot of current in my tank, 2 Mag12 and 1 MAK4, in my 180g. I have absolutely no luck getting frags to attach, I think the two sea swirls rock the frags around to much. So, I asked the LFS if they wanted unmounted frags, and I mean big frags 8+ inches, of colt coral. Of course they said no! Last time I cut this beast down to a manageable size, I pitched about 10 lbs of colt coral  . Don't know a single reefer within driving distance to trade with.

I'm sure a little bit of super glue and plastic lid from a tupper ware container would work fine for mounting... may not look that great but you can always pull it off and attach it to something else later.

liquid,
I would be interested in some of the Capnella. I finally got some other stuff in the tnak you may be interested in now as well.
Give me a shout if your heading to Fort Wayne any time soon.

I need to toss SPS frags weekly. All the local reefers have frags from me, the LFS won't take anymore and I just don't have room.

I had the same problem with Xenia....would reach in the tank and grab a handfull and flush. But I restructered my tank and lost a lot of the xenia, so I only have a few colonies for now. But after a few months it will be shading other corals. My LFS will take xenia in limited quanities but will always take SPS corals. Guess I am luckier than most.
