I want to frag some shrooms that i have but i dont know hot do it. There is a post on this site that tells me how to get it onto the rock but it does not tell me how to cut the shroom. I want to know step by step what i need to do. You can either tell me or give me link that tells me how to do it. I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't recommend you physically frag shrooms by cutting them. It's a delicate affair that is way too much work since shrooms multiply on their own like bunnies. What I do if I want to propogate shrooms is put a bunch of loose rock around the colony. In a month, it'll be all covered with shrooms and I just pluck off a rock at a time. It's so much easier then trying to cut the coral (without any part of the oral disk, it usually doesn't grow into a new shroom), wait the cutting grows back out, and then finding some way to attach it to a rock.

If you want to cut them. (I have to to keep them from overgrowing.) Cut the cap off the mushroom, then cut the cap into pieces. cut like you would a pizza. Cut across the center of the frag. As long as the piece has a bit of the oral disc, it will grow into a new frag. (just like Len said!)

Once you have the pieces, you can do a number of things

1 place cuttings in a small container with some coarse gravel. place the container in the tank where there's minimal flow. In a week or two the cuttings will attatch to the gravel. Glue said gravel to rocks where you want mushrooms to grow.

2: use cheesecloth/screen/the plastic netting onions come in/ pantyhose, and 'net' the cuttings to pieces of rock. take a piece of (I use screen) and cut a square bigger than the rubble. Place the chopped up pieces of shroom on the rock, and cover with screen. Hold screen in place with rubberbands. Two weeks or so, remove rubberbands and screen.

3: place a rubberband directly across the cap of a mushroom. It will divide in two in a week or so.

I cut them as close to the base as possible and then stick a toothpick through the cap for use as an anchor. Now you can slide the toothpick in a hole or crevace in your LR, or you have the option of gluing it as well.
