Is there something on the market that can tell you if you`re electrocuting your fish and corals? Besides saving my own thin hide I`m sure my tank would appreciate it.What`s a good safe way to have my tank hooked up?

I have all my equipment hooked up to GFI cords. That`s why I don`t understand why I still got shocked.AND I had the cords turned off and STILL got shocked. It didn`t stop until I unplugged the problem pump.Apparently just turning off the power strip isn`t enough. From now on everything gets unplugged before I stick my hands in.

defective GFI? it should have tripped if the problem pump was hooked up to it and was bleeding voltage to the water column.

Some devices "leak" electricity even when they're turned off, this along with a defective GFI might be your problem. Of course, you might be "feeling" a shock because you have an exposed cut as well. Saltwater in a wound feels a lot like a shock. Do you get shocked when you place your other hand in the water?
