As most of you know, using a rubbermaid sump has a very distinct challenge: how to put in dividers. Something I thought of on the way home from work this morning (although I may not be the first), is to use a second tub inside the sump. I have another rubbermaid tub, almost the same width as my sump, and just as tall, but about 11" shorter in length.
What I want is a place for a dsb and macroalgae. My thought is to drill a series of 3/4" holes on each end of the second tub, higher on the overflow side than on the return side, and put it in the center of the sump, with the dsb in it. Although this won't do much in terms of a bubble trap, it should contain the sand. I haven't figured out yet how to keep any macralgae from escaping through the holes to the pump, so any suggestions would be appreciated. Do you think this will work? Thanks!
