Okay read that last post about lighting, I will either set up my reef in my new 80 gal or my 72 gal bowfront. Now i have SPS and Clams in my 135gal tank right now doing great under 2 250 HQI XDE 20k bulbs now will that be enough light for my SPS and Clams. I think they should as for HQI Burn brighter light than Mogel screw in type, right. talk to me people give the 411 hehe lol.

Thanks,

Darrell

Darrell,
I'm a big fan of the 20,000K formats. If I were you, I'd upgrade the 135 to 400w and put the 250s on the smaller tank.
Although the 20Ks lack some of the punch you get with Iwasakis, you'll enjoy much better coloration in acros and LPSs.
Another trick I recently learned is to mix 10k and 20k bulbs within one reflector, placing the bulbs about 6 to 8 inches apart. That way you get the PAR of the 10k and the color enhancement of the 20k.
Just my opine.

i would maybe add two 400w'ers 10 or 14k's then keep the 250w 20ks... then you will not need to supplement with actinics....

just an idea... i have 175w 14k's on my 90g and love them...
