Why is my new acropora turning white?

Hey guys, any common ideas on why an acro will start looking white and bleached. I just got him last week. I am running 3 250w mh's and 4 vho actinincs. He is positioned in the middle of my tank. I will do some water tests, but just got out of the hospital so it might be a day or 2. I usually run at

temp- 80 degrees

Wow how wierd is that I'm going through the same thing with my 3 day old frag. I just posted about it, allthough I'm glad to say mine isn't as bad as yours.

Did you use to test your Phosphates parameters. This play an important role on your tank.

This can caused by many things. The stress of moving from the ocean to dist. tank to display tank probably kill most of the coral. They are not meant to be moved at all.

That coral is not bleached, STN or RTN. Either way it's pretty much dead. Very little chance the tiny bit that still has flesh left will make it. Common with many wild SPS when recently introduced to ones tank.

Poor acclimation, poor tank conditions, immature tank, handling, shipping or holding tanks at the LFS. Anyone of these could cause that to happen.

I agree. This is one reason I try to stay away from "wildies" with very few exceptions.
