I recently upgraded from a 29 to a 40 gallon tank. Since the change over, my BTA hasn't been inflating fully. It isn't completely deflated, just doesn't look happy.

I cycled the tank by adding several pieces of krill and using pantyhose pouches of the old crushed coral. After everything was at zero, I started adding live rock, and over about two weeks, I have put everything in the new tank. The anemone and corals went in on Sunday. The BTA is under the light as before, but he is in a different area of the current. He used to be directly under the outlet of the Emperor, but is now further away, but fully in the current. So far, I have lost a small piece of my leather, but everything else is adjusting well.

Any ideas? Is this a normal occurence when swapping tanks?

Tank contains 4 inches of Southdown, about 65 lbs LR, and same lighting, filtration, skimmer.

When I moved my BTA from my 120 gallon to my nano, it took about 3 months before it looked like its old self. However, when I moved it from the nano into my friends 29 gallon, it looked amazing right away. Just goes to show that the acclimation period is highly variable. Personally, I think you should give it some time. A new tank is bound to have thousands of new variables the anemone has to adjust to. If the major water parameters test fine, I don't know what much else you can do except a few more water changes. But I think it'll be alright if you give it some time.

It may be to do with depth of the tank and lighting. Are the tanks the same depth?
What sought of lighting on the new tank?An unhappy anomene is a wandering one. If it stays put it only needs some time to acclimatise to the new variables in the new tank.
