You have to give us some time, mate. Our lives do tend to revolve around RDO, but we have to eat and use the toilet, too.

Cleaner shrimps won't help your fish, you probably have a good case of exopthalmia (sp?) going.

Quarantine the fish immediately, and start a regimen of Spectrogram according to directions.

Sick Tank. Put him in a seperate tank and cure it with Meds or hypo salinity. (Drop the SG to about 1.010) for about a week then gradually bring it up again. I used copper in a 10 gal with the salinity at 1.018 for about 3 weeks when this happend to my perc about a year ago.Now hes fine and living it up in a big old BTA. Good Luck! Hope this helps. :)

Sounds Like a case of POPEYE.
I treated one with an antibiotic called myacin.
If you do not have a QT tank a bucket will do, with daily water changes and airation. I would not recomend this way though.
Good luck

Only time will tell, my friend. Personally, I feel that we are just as responsible to the animals we take into our care as we are to our own children, and I would never let my child go with a case of popeye and hope it clears. Just my opinion, of course.

Well, ok hun. I am not at all familiar with this book, and I've never heard that a fish gets popeye from eating seafood.

Why don't you also check out our library http://www.reefs.org/library ?
And also check out another VERY good site http://www.wetwebmedia.com

And, just a suggestion, my friend; when one uses all capital letters on the net, it is perceived as yelling.

Any watertight container can be used for a quarantine, lots of folks even use Rubbermaid tubs (as they're stackable and easily stored away). Then you just need rudimentary heating and filtration (an air-driven sponge filter is always acceptable) should do the trick.

Seamaiden is right on with using a tub. If the clown trusts you (AKA You are the feeding god.) He should not be hard to catch. It might clear up on it's own, but why risk it. I put a piece of LR in the bucket when I isolated the clown. If you use harsh chemicals or metals for treatment, ie copper. Dont put the LR back in the tank.
Good luck with him

Sea Maiden, Sorry I took so long to respond to your question. I saw that the guy needed help and none of the "experts" were helping him, sooo... I told him what I did when this happened to my fish. I guess I did something right because my clown is going on 3 years old and its been 2 years since this happened.

No worries, mate. However, what you've outlined is fantastic for ich, unheard of for popeye. But hey, if it worked, it worked, right?

My clown used to get a bit of pop eye every now and then. If i did a water change and cleaned up the mech filters it usually did the trick. Also watch your salinity, at lower levels this can be a cause of the problem.
