yeah, it is definately less porous than the man made lava rcok and you never can be 100% sure of what you are getting into
but it is cheap rock. i have a chunk in my little bug farm it becomes more porous as the years pass and seems as it is easily bored into by critters but certainly not a replacement for the live stuff.
