Brine shrimp are nutritionally deficit (they ain't got none). Mysis shrimp would be one way to substitute, but they're a bit like mandarins in that they do best in old, established reef systems (especially those with refugia) because of all the different "pod" growth (cope, iso, arthro, and so on).

Yes they require massive amounts of pods just like mandarins.
Return the scooter to the LFS and get a full refund.
They were not being truthful.

If you are lucky, he might eat frozen food. Has he eaten anything you have offered him so far? If not, it may be a lost cause.

FWIW, my manderin fish likes frozen formula one and frozen mysis. Have you tried either of these two foods yet?

i made that mistake on my first fish as well he ate every thing i fed to the other fish but he also depleted my sand bed as well

it is my fealing that your sand bed and its life will never be what it should be with him in there from the beginning.

my sand bed is now great and full of life but i am afraid to get a manderin or a scooter agian cuz they are pigs and dont stop eating.

just my opinion

As Will said, mine wil eat both formula I and II, and also pellets. Used frozen brine shrimp to get him started, now he's a pig!
