I just added a bunch of new turbo snails to my tank and an hour later found one of my peppermints dining on one of them!!!!

I thought poor water quality was the culprit in my previous snails' deaths?! Are peppermint shrimps known for this activity? Will I have to choose, snails or shrimp?

::( September has not been my month.

Peppermint shrimps are scavengers, the snail was most likely dead or dying. How did you go about acclimating the snails to your system?

I acclimated them using a slow drip over the period of about 90minutes.

My question is though, all 20 something of the Astrea snails I had in the tank previously died slowly over time too.

I'm going to have to keep an eye on the shrimp.

He seemed to go right after the conch I had added too.

Yeah at least one of my two seems to be a picker. ::( They did a fine job of cleaning up Apista. Maybe I can get some store credit for them, they are fine specimens.

I don't have problems with peppermint shrimps, but I wouldn't say the same for the coral banded shrimps.........

Strange, quite the oppisite for me.

Anyone have any good ideas on how to catch and remove two peppermints? A lil bait in a net?

i would first bait them out with some meaty food then try to net them??? Mine are now quite tame to me hand feeding them..if not you might be able to rig up some sort of trap or buy one from a LFS...
